The Todoroki family is an unusual religious group. From the beginning, they have been a coercive, tyrannical and cold-hearted family. Enji Todoroki used his authority and influence to force his future wife, Rei, to marry. The purpose of this marriage was to create and raise a child with a remarkable Quirk so that Enji could surpass All Might. The couple were married partly for Enji’s sake and coldly executed for his.

Before Shoto Quirk was conceived, they had hoped to have a daughter and two children. Enji trained Shoto to become a hero by sadistic and foul means from the age of five. Because of his young age, Shota’s father was able to establish communication between him and his other older relatives during his adolescence.

Enji’s cruelty towards Shoto, Rei’s father, has severely damaged his life and that of his family. Enji tried to prevent Shoto from undergoing his rigorous training with Rei’s mother, but he refused to listen and asked her not to interfere.Shoto’s mother was also the target of Enji’s abuse, to the point that she became intellectually insane.

When she saw Shoto’s left side, she snapped one day and doused him with boiling water. Enji had her committed to a mental institution as a result of this event.

Shoto starts to prepare himself as soon as he can, but he still hates his father and enrols in a Tokyo high school. Enji’s other children are undoubtedly treated equally by him. He does not give them the strict training that Shoto receives, and does not seem to care for them as a normal father would with his children – referring to Shoto’s siblings as ‘things’. The relationship between Shoto’s siblings, Shoto and Enji is unknown. Nor is it stated what became of them.

In any case, it seems that Enji was kind to Shoto in her interactions with Fuyumi, since they are now more experienced. This suggests that she is treated differently from her children. Later, Shoto apologised to his mother for using him as a child and now visits her regularly, suggesting that the two have put their differences behind them.

After All Might’s retirement, Enji took a step towards closing the book on his misbehaviour by expressing his gratitude to All Might for carrying his child. He then swore to Shoto that he would improve as a man and tried to extend this effort to the rest of his family. He then promised Shoto that he would become a better person and sought to apply this to the rest of his family.

Natsuo and Fuyumi return home to see their mother, who is in a good position with them. Natsuo admits that he has few memories of his father, suggesting that Enji has not put much effort into raising his older children. Rei learns from her two children that Enji goes to see her privately but that they have never met face to face.
