The appearance of Shota Aizawa

Shota-aizawa-apparence

Shota is a tall, thin man with black hair that hangs partially in front of his face and dark eyes that are often half closed. He is known for his untidy appearance, which usually implies that he just got out of bed. His facial hair never grows and his eyes almost always look tired and flat.

Shota’s basic outfit is black and consists of a long-sleeved shirt and matching pants that fit into his boots. He also wears a utility belt and a scarf signifying his position as a leader of Team Rocket. For use in battle, he hides a pair of yellow glasses under his scarf.

After being horribly injured by Brainless, Shota had her entire face and both arms wrapped in bandages. When these bandages were removed, Shota revealed a large scar under her right eye.

When asked about her attire, she usually says it is “formal wear” Her usual attire for formal meetings includes a black suit, blue tie and white shirt. Her hair is neatly styled and held in a low bun at the base of her neck in this outfit.

Shota usually wears a long-sleeved black shirt when he is relaxing in his apartment or when he has free time.

Shota has lost an eye and a leg since the start of the Paranormal Liberation War.

Shota Aizawa's personality

La-personnalite-de-shota-aizawa

Shota is a stern, mostly silent man who has high standards for his students. He is down-to-earth, logical and non-conformist in his beliefs and does not believe in maintaining a good appearance or controlling what he says or thinks to others. Under most circumstances, he is cold, indifferent and quick to anger; instead of making an effort in most situations, he prefers to take naps in his sleeping bag.

Shota is known to quickly expel students who he feels are not right for Yuei, although he has never expelled students from Class 1-A. He does this in order to allow the children he expels to experience “death”, which allows them to progress further. Shota does this in order to allow the children he expels to experience “death”, which allows them to progress even further. Shota is strict, demanding and does not tolerate disobedience. When necessary, he can be rigid and harsh, but he also has a low tolerance for insubordination. Shota is not afraid to put his students through rigorous training and frequently exposes them to the more unpleasant aspects of being a hero so that they can overcome their difficulties.

Shota has proven to be a rather modest and outspoken individual. He believes that some of Yuei’s test choices are not realistic or demanding enough for the real aspirations of the heroes, and he is adamant that some policies should change to better serve those who need his services. He then said that he did not think that Izuku Midoriya, who was very different from him, could become a hero when they first met. He is also known to tell lies to his students in order to persuade them to offer him their best efforts, calling it a “logical trick”/”rational deception.”

Shota’s attitude is apathetic, but he genuinely cares about his students and will do anything to protect them, as evidenced by his attempt to save Tsuyu Asui from Tomura Shigaraki despite his extensive injuries. He has also expressed his confidence in his students on several occasions and believes that even individuals like Katsuki Bakugo will be immune to the influence of villains. During Shota’s examination, Recovery Girl even hinted that he was attracted to Momo Yoyorozu in order to boost his confidence. Shota is also very encouraging, as he was seen taking on his responsibilities as Eri’s guardian and adoptive father without complaint. He also informed All Might that she was asleep, suggesting that he is constantly attentive and interested in his position as a “father” outside of his roles as a teacher and mentor.

Shota’s anguish at the death of his friend Oboro Shirakumo is evident, and he becomes more unstable because of it. When Shota confronts Kurogiri after learning that he was once Shirakumo, he shows obvious emotional pain, indicating that Shota has not yet accepted his friend’s fate. Shota is especially cruel to those who have the misfortune to anger him, and hurts especially those he loves. This was evident when Shota strangled Kyudai after discovering the desecration of Oboro’s body, blocking his longevity change, tormenting and humiliating the old scientist in a display of pure fury.

Shota, despite his temper, has shown on several occasions that he is not totally devoid of joy or humor: when one of his students impresses him or after he fools him with one of his “logical tricks”, he frequently smiles.

Shota Aizawa's Skills and Competencies

Shota-aizawa-histoire-et-biographie

General Abilities: Eraser Head is an excellent hero for Yuei because of his fighting skills and innovative thinking. Eraser Head is one of Yuei’s most talented instructors, and is a very successful hero due to his skillful fighting techniques and enormous inventiveness. Eraser Head’s typical battle plan is to cancel an opponent’s alter before using his capture weapon with his exceptional mobility to quickly defeat or dominate his opponents. Even without the use of his alter, Eraser Head is a master of hand-to-hand combat, especially in close quarters. His all-around abilities make him an important fighter in battles where his opponents rely solely on their alter, allowing him and his allies to take advantage of the gaps created by the erasure of their powers during battle.

During the SCA incident, Eraser Head faced low-level members of the Super Villain Alliance, who surrounded the hero and outnumbered him by hundreds. Eraser Head dodged several attacks of varying sizes and strengths before overpowering them and sending them flying with precise counterattacks. He was even able to almost defeat Tomura Shigaraki, a very capable villain, before Brainless stepped in and flattened the hero. Aside from Tomura, Eraser Head can defend himself against powerful villains like Genesis Dabi Squadron members and Himiko Toga with some success. He also participated in the police raid against the Eight Precepts of Death, as well as the Jaku Hospital raid, both of which involved multiple heroes facing off against high-level threats.

Acute Intelligence: Eraser Head has been praised for his observational skills and assessments. He can quickly assess the mental state of his students and their personalities. He is an expert at matching his equipment to each other, as well as customizing it for each situation. Eraser Head uses glasses in conjunction with his alter to conceal his identity from his opponents. He also has the gift of devising methods to fight various kinds of enemies, even those who resist his transformation. He can also uniquely understand the fundamentals of individuals’ powers after seeing them just once.

Alter

Erasure (抹消 Masshō): Shota’s alter gives him the power to obstruct another person’s alter by glancing at the user. Even if Shota is out of sight, his opponent’s impairments can still be activated by this alter.

Shota, who is a member of the SCA, cannot use his alter for as long and must rest longer between wipes after suffering severe injuries.

This alter is particularly powerful, but it has many drawbacks:

  • The wipe only turns off if Shota manages to blink.
  • Shota has trouble using the power continuously because the alter irritates his dry eye, forcing him to blink more frequently when he uses it constantly.
  • Erasure is ineffective against mutants.
  • When Shota is active, his hair levitates and reveals whether his alter is active or not.
  • This alter has no offensive potential.

Shota Aizawa's Equipment

Ophthalmic Drops: He also carries a small green box with him that contains eye drops. He uses them to treat dry eyes, which he gets from opening his eyes too frequently.

Ribbons (捕縛武器 Hobaku Buki): The Eraser Head uses a fabric made of steel wire alloy woven with carbon nanofibers as a weapon.

Eraser Head Goggles: Shota’s alter, Eroseraser Head, is distinguished by his golden goggles worn around his neck, which are hidden by his scarf. He only wears them in battle because they go well with Shota’s alter. Enemies can’t tell the difference between the alter since he wears these glasses from Oboro Shirakumo during his school years.

Booby Traps: In the battle against Todoroki and Yaoyorozu, Shota used shoehorns in combination with the ribbons, and they proved to be effective. Shota used shoehorns to throw himself under Shoto so that he would not fall to his death if he managed to break free from his bonds.

Knife: Eraser Head has a huge knife, which he uses to cut down his capture weapon if it gets caught on something. He can also use it in combat; he cut off his leg to avoid losing his alter.

Shota Aizawa's relationships

shota-aizawa-et-deku

Present Mic

Shota and Present Mic have been friends for a long time and were classmates at Yuei High School. Present Mic suggested the hero name Eraser Head to Shota, who was amused by it. He didn’t seem to be bothered by the name Mic gave him, although he used it as an example to show that his class should be careful when choosing a superhero nickname, as they might be stuck with a terrible hero name forever.

Shota is calm and collected while Mic is boisterous and energetic, but they still get along great. Unlike All Might’s rivalry with him, Shota and Mic get along very well.

All Might

Izuku and All Might met at the beginning of high school, when Shota annoyed Izuku on the first day. Due to their conflicting personalities and the fact that Shota irritated Izuku on the first day of school, they did not get along at first. All Might rejects Shota’s overly strict teaching methods while Shota despises the favoritism that Izuku shows All Might.

However, Shota pays tribute to his fellow hero who showed him the same things as he did when he saved Shota from the Nomus in the SCA arc. Shota tries to sympathize with All Might by inviting him for a drink one day after the Raid Arc, in which All Might beats All For One and loses the One For All, implying that they have reached some degree of understanding. After meeting Bakugo’s wild family, All Might kindly declined his offer, but Shota advised him to take it easy and relax now that he was retired.

Sekijiro Kan

Shota and Vlad are competing against each other because they are peers, professional heroes, and tenured instructors in the hero department for their respective classes. As Vlad King views the Second A’s as rivals to his class, this rivalry is also felt by Shota, with Vlad being aggressive towards him.

Despite their rivalry, Vlad knows when to work with Shota in serious moments. He demonstrated this at their press conference, where he feared Shota would become furious, but was shocked when Shota remained calm and accepted the heckling.

Midnight

Shota was a student at Yuei when Nemuri was his teacher. She helped him finish his studies to work with the hero Her Highness Purple, forming the Purple Revolution team with Oboro Shirakumo in the second year.

Shota and Nemuri have been friends ever since, and they have always helped each other out, such as when he asked her to help his class with things he didn’t mind. They generally have a pleasant relationship, with Shota tolerating Nemuri’s “enthusiastic” attitude towards young people, but he gets irritated when she makes decisions for him without his consent.

Shota is on the AU faculty because he develops this behavior. When Nemuri was personally invited to join the faculty by Principal Nezu, she recommended Shota’s principal for the position, who accepted her as a teacher despite his earlier remark that being a teacher was the height of absurdity.

Second grade A

Shota is a kind and wise principal teacher who teaches Yuei second A. Shota cares about the safety and well-being of his students, willing to sacrifice his life to defend them from danger. He has strict standards for heroism in his students and pushes them hard in this area. Although he rarely praises others, he has high expectations for each of them and recognizes when they do a great job.

Still, he is a very strict individual who does not hesitate to castigate and reprimand them when they do not live up to his standards or make poor judgments, not sparing the truth when pointing out flaws or naivety. Finn’s stern attitude makes it difficult for his students to determine if he is sincere in his teaching, so when he threatens them with “logical lies” such as suspensions or fines to force them to practice fully, they take him seriously and are naturally afraid.

Izuku Midoriya

When Izuku first meets Shota, he doesn’t believe that he can become a hero and plans to “kick him out” on the first day of school. Until he found out who Shota was and became the first in the class to recognize him as Eraser Head, Izuku was equally discouraged. All Might’s interest in Izuku piques Shota’s curiosity, and he sees him as being as reckless as Izuku. When Izuku shows that he is trustworthy to Shota, Shota recognizes that if Izuku can learn to control his Alter, he may one day become a hero.

Throughout the series, Shota continues to view Izuku as a “difficult child” because of his propensity to cause trouble and put himself in danger. Shota, on the other hand, has faith in Izuku’s potential and is amazed at his progress and improved abilities. Lately, he starts to respect Izuku more often, but he remains strict with him.

Izuku recognized Shota’s efforts as a hero, and he worried about him when he fought the Super Villain Alliance and was amazed by his skills, realizing that he had underestimated him. Shocked to see Brainless dominate him, Izuku took Shota away.

Shota noticed Izuku’s gradual transformation and asked him about it, but he only gave a vague answer.

Katsuki Bakugo

Shota is as quick to anger as Izuku, and Katsuki’s impetuous and aggressive behavior irritates him. He has a habit of looking at Katsuki more than any other student and restraining his impetuous and loud behavior.

Shota was also present when Katsuki addressed the class during the End of Term Exam Arc, and he noticed that she was getting worse. Shota also put Izuku in touch with Katsuki to work together, which proved to be effective. When questioned by the press about his “bad guy” behavior, he admitted that he had hero qualities.

When he met the Bakugo family for the first time, he was praised for seeing Katsuki for who he really is and for not overlooking his flaws. Shota praised Katsuki for cooperating with his teammates during the joint training arc, which allowed him to succeed. Shota was satisfied with Katsuki’s progress in changing his behavior, and Katsuki advised him to stop thinking about it.

Shoto Todoroki

Shota is a bit more agreeable than Izuku and Katsuki in general, although he understands that Shoto has his own challenges to overcome.

At the end of the semester test, Shoto was related to Momo, while Shota was his opponent. During the confrontation, Shota manages to hold Shoto back. He informs Shoto that he has caused him too much trouble and that he should trust Momo more. Shoto obeys his master’s order, and they manage to defeat him and his plan together.

A few days later, during the Arc Raid against the Alliance of Super-Villains, Shoto was one of the five students who defied the authorities by going to rescue Katsuki. This action earned him harsh criticism from Shota, who claimed that he would have been kicked out along with the other students had it not been for All Might’s withdrawal.

Shota pointed out that Shoto was the only student who didn’t fight Mirio Togata in the Eight Precepts of Death arc, even though he was the quiet one after failing his provisional license exam.

Shota gets closer to Shoto as time goes by. When the battle between Endeavor and Hood is broadcast on television, Shota worries about Shoto. When Endeavor appears to be about to be defeated, Shota rushes to Shoto’s location, worried about how it will affect him. After Endeavor’s victory, he knelt down next to him, smiling as if calling a blessing on his father’s victory.

Ochaco Uraraka

Shota has no romantic feelings for Ochaco. Shota simply acts as a teacher and a student with her. Shota is not afraid to give Ochaco a hard time when he sees that she is underperforming; for example, he scolds her harshly throughout the end-of-semester exam that she narrowly passed against number 13.

He also tries to encourage and comfort her in difficult situations. After Sir Nighteye’s death, Ochaco feels guilty because she thinks she could have done more to save him, but Shota soothes her and tells her that she has no responsibility, blaming the heroes instead, and urges her to take time to think about what she wants to do in the future.

After Izuku is saved in the 5th round of joint training, Aizawa notes that Ochaco has developed and improved a lot since their previous meeting.

Minoru Mineta

Shota is well aware of Minoru’s depraved personality, calling him “the epitome of lust.” Aizawa does not attempt to correct this mentality, but he does not allow Mineta to cross certain moral boundaries, such as looking at women while they bathe. Shota frequently warns others about Minoru’s attitude so that they take the necessary precautions or he becomes intimidating to ensure that Mineta does not do anything indecent.

Minoru, on the other hand, receives support and encouragement from Shota when he is overwhelmed by a difficulty, such as when Minoru was afraid to take the provisional license exam. Shota encourages him to give his best to the exam and to pursue his goal of becoming a hero. This inspired and terrified the boy in equal measure, pushing him to accomplish greater things.

Neito Monoma

Although he is the instructor of his rival class, Neito maintains a professional demeanor and respects him. Shota, on the other hand, reprimands Neito before Itsuka and asks him to behave properly.

Shota asks Neito to help Eri control her alter at the end of the joint training arc. When Neito fails, Shota is not surprised and thanks him for trying.

Hitoshi Shinso

It was said that Shota first noticed Hitoshi during the sports championship, due to the lack of effectiveness of their doubles in real world combat. Later, Shota chose to be Hitoshi’s personal mentor so that he could progress in the heroic curriculum and pass on his expertise of the Ribbon to him so that he could become more powerful in combat.

The students and teachers of Fumikiri All-Stars are similar to Izuku and All Might in terms of emotions, except that they have a student-teacher relationship rather than a student-teacher relationship.

One of the reasons for Shota’s interest in Hitoshi’s training, according to One-on-One Journalism , is that he sees his younger self in him.

Mirio Togata

Mirio and Shota had little contact until the police raid on the Eight Precepts of Death. Mirio sees him as a teacher, while Shota sees Mirio as Yuei’s most powerful student, considering him the best candidate for the title of Hero Number 1 when all the Heroes are added up.

Shota comforts a desperate Mirio, promising to seek a cure for his double after Eri’s rescue, the loss of Mirio’s double, and the death of Sir Nighteye.

Mirio is upset when Eri is with Shota. Mirio helps her take care of her and they are frequently seen together when Eri goes to Yuei’s house. Shota believes that if Eri learns to control her alter, she will be able to restore Mirio’s permeability.

Eri

Eri was unable to control his Alter after Izuku defeated Overhaul, which resulted in visible discomfort for him. Shota, although injured, went to the scene so that he could remove Eri’s Alter. Since then, Shota has acted as a teacher to Eri, sometimes taking care of her when she lives with the Yuei faculty in the dorms. She is comfortable with Shota’s presence and listens to her carefully.

When Eri was in the hospital, Shota bought a set of matching cat-themed clothes for her to wear when she was released. However, it is stated in the manga that the outfit was so hideous that a nurse had to bring extra clothes for Eri. Shota is known to love cats, which makes this gift all the more meaningful.

Oboro Shirakumo

Oboro was one of his closet buddies when he was still a student at Yuei. They had a positive relationship and communicated frequently, especially after Shota began to have major doubts about his abilities and future as a hero in the second year. Shota and Manta were distraught because they didn’t know what to do. Oboro was there to encourage him and help him solve his difficulties. Oboro used to tell Shota that the only thing he had achieved with his negative attitude was to psych himself up. Oboro really believed that he was better than what he thought, and that if he wanted to, he could accomplish anything.

Nemuri, because of him, the two of them did their hero work at the Purple Revolution Agency, where they show remarkable teamwork to take on the bad guys. It is during one of these moments that Oboro gives his glasses to Shota so that he can protect his eyes and confront a villain with an Alter who has to fight his suppression.

Oboro was a happy kid who liked Shota and Hizashi, and he even suggested that the three of them start their own hero company after they graduated. Unfortunately, a week later, Oboro perished crushed by a mound of debris in a fight with a villain, which Shota single-handedly defeated. Shota learned how his friend was always cheering him on, but after his victory, he discovered that Oboro was already dead before he started fighting, and Sensoji informed him that he was probably giving himself a pep talk and the stress of the situation made him think it was Oboro. Shota and Hizashi mourn the death of their companion.

Despite his years, Shota still remembers his former classmate. The current Mic notes that one of the reasons for his interest in Shinso, aside from seeing his younger self in him, is because of Shirakumo.

Shota is devastated when Detective Naomasa and Gran Torino tell him that All for One has stolen and defiled Oboro Shirakumo’s corpse, modifying his body and using it as a base to create brainless Kurogiri.
