Izuku V.S. Shoto: Who Wins?

Izuku V.S. Shoto: Who Wins?

What are they made of? What challenges still await them? The My Hero Academia team has had more than a few opportunities to pit their main characters against each other, proving their strength and showing their personal growth. Izuku Midoriya and his comrades have defeated several powerful villains including the elite League of Villains and the terrible Revision. But can they be defeated?

Izuku and Shoto Todoroki are now semi-rivals, and both rivals of Katsuki Bakugo. They had previously faced each other in the second round of the AU Sports Festival, where they fought hard. Shoto narrowly won that fight thanks to the fire of his alter half, but a rematch could play out in different ways.

My Hero Academia’s storyline has had more than one opportunity to pit its main characters against each other in battle, showing what they are capable of as well as showing their personal growth. Izuku Midoriya and his classmates have defeated a number of evil strongmen, from the forward-thinking League of Villains to the sadistic Re-education. But can they overcome their own demons?

Katsuki Bakugo and Izuku Midoriya are now semi-rivals, while Shoto Todoroki is Katsuki’s rival. When they fought hard in the second round of the UA sports tournament, they used half of his alter’s fire to determine whether one or the other had won that battle. Shoto defeated this match with some luck thanks to his alter’s 50% fire, but a rematch may well take place in the future. During the tournament, Katsuki had been particularly brutal towards Izuku, and even though Izuku could have won against Shoto without his help, he decided to give his rival some help so that he could win. This shows that the relationship between these three students is not as simple as it seems. Izuku Midoriya Highlights: The Smash and Shoot Style

As a shonen hero, Izuku is destined to become one of the most powerful main characters in My Hero Academia, otherwise the strongest. But he won’t stop at number 1 thanks to meta-powers – Izuku must defend against and strengthen his fighting ability while further increasing his skills to reach the pinnacle, and it’s going well so far. He’s received an incredible Quirk One For All, and best of all, he’s surrounded by a host of powerful friends and allies who have shown him that the world doesn’t have to be as scary as he thought. With My Hero Academia, Izuku Midoriya is well on his way to becoming an unforgettable hero.

Izuku has his body in perfect condition for his age, and he has a quick and analytical mind. He is brave and proactive, but he is also cautious and intelligent. He can outwit all traps or deduce the battle strategy of his opponents, regardless of their skill level. Izuku took basic lessons for a week with Gran Torino to acquire the Full Cowling ability, spread One For All meticulously over his body, and he can throw strikes with Shoot Style.

All of this has had a major impact on Izuku’s mobility, as seen when he jumps around the room during a fight with Sir Nighteye (and has the accuracy to avoid stepping on All Might posters).

Izuku, like All Might, can throw destructive smashes, and if they tempt you into this option, don’t hesitate. It will then be an all or nothing attack, which is perfectly effective in many cases.

Katsuki Bakugo’s Quirk blast, for example, is quite formidable, but it needs to warm up a bit before it reaches its full potential. Izuku can quickly pulverize his enemies with maximum force if you wish. He is capable of doing incredible things beyond his borders, like when he pulverized Muscular with a 1,000,000% Smash.

Shoto Todoroki's Strengths: The Natural Talent

Les-Forces-De-Shoto-Todoroki-Le-Talent-Naturel

Shoto Todoroki stands for talent and natural gifts, as Izuku Midoriya means hard work and diligence. Shoto Todoroki is in fact synonymous with genius and natural gifts. He was born to be perfect, the pinnacle of the Quirk marriage (a potentially controversial practice). Shoto endured a lot of stress, and even abuse from Endeavour, but at least he got something out of it: an incredible firepower and the desire to use it.

Shoto’s default weapon is half a cube of ice, which he can produce at any time. This ice can easily trap many opponents before they have a chance to react or create ramparts and fields that Shoto can slide over for mobility. He can also erect barriers to block hostile attacks or support crumbling buildings.

Shoto has also begun to master the other half of his alter: the fire side of Endeavour. Shoto hasn’t trained much with him and is perhaps a bit sloppy, but he is trying to make up for lost time. His flames are quite powerful, and he has recently learned to maintain them more – enough to overwhelm Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, who had actually trained to withstand intense heat.

Shoto is unable to sustain it for long, but intense flames might do the trick. He’s probably not as smart and perceptive as Izuku, but he’s a solid strategist who can find sneaky ways to use his alter, which he did by plugging the exhaust vents with ice to prevent Tenya Iida’s Quirk from doing any damage.

My Hero Academia Showdown: Shoto's Talent vs. Izuku's Fracas

Shoto and Izuku have learned to respect each other a lot lately, so they will start with strong moves. Shoto is used to using his ice because it’s customary for him, but Izuku’s Full Cowling allows him to move freely and avoid attacks. It’s an exact repeat of their Sports Festival match, except Izuku doesn’t need as many Smash attacks to keep the ice at bay. His improved mobility allows him to be more secure, which is a much more sustainable strategy.

Izuku is mobile enough to get around Shoto’s ice and launch a counterattack, ideally using the Shoot style. Shoto’s flames can still keep Izuku at bay, allowing him to retaliate with even more ice. Izuku must now resume his evasive tactics, looking for any opportunity.

Izuku can simply go to the end of the game and ask Shoto to use all his firepower. Izuku will meet him with his biggest Smash, which will send both boys flying. Smash is strong enough to carry Shoto at this point in My Hero Academia, and he won’t have time for a piece of ice. He’s knocked out, but at least he’s forced Izuku to fight for that victory.
